Nigerian music sensation Rema has once again proved why he is a force to be reckoned with in the global music scene.
Speaking on the creative direction behind his latest album, HE-IS, the Afro-rave pioneer shared deep insights into why he made the bold decision to revisit his roots.
“It can only be part of a new generation if it’s something new, if it brings a breath of fresh air into the sound,” Rema explained to MTV on the sidelines of the 2025 Grammys.
According to him, the album focused on recognizing the foundation and sound that changed his life serving as a reminder of home and a way to cement the essence of Afrobeats for future generations.
“Sometimes we evolve, but as we are evolving, I made this move as a remembrance to always go back—to leave a mark so that even the future generation knows we always come back to keep the home sound going before we continue our global mission.”
