The legendary rapper continues to show that he’s deeply in touch with the new wave of Nigerian music, staying tuned to the artists currently making waves in the scene.

In a recent episode of the “I Said What I Said” podcast, Reminisce, whose full name is Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru, revealed some of the artistes that are currently dominating his playlist. Known for being an OG who supports younger talents, the rapper highlighted Asake, Psycho YP, and Odumodu Blvck as a few of his top picks.

Reminisce shared that he’s been a fan of Asake’s music long before the artiste signed with YBNL, and Asake remains at the top of his list because he resonates with the themes of the neo-fuji singer’s sound.

Another artist who has grabbed his attention is Psycho YP, a rising star in Nigeria’s alté and trap scenes. Known for his laid-back flow and innovative approach to music, YP is making a significant impact, not just in Nigeria but across the broader urban music landscape.

Reminisce also gave special recognition to Odumodu Blvck, praising his gritty and eclectic persona. Odumodu’s disruptive and genre-bending style has earned him a growing fanbase, both in the underground and mainstream scenes.

In addition to Nigerian talents, Reminisce spoke about some international heavyweights he frequently listens to, including iconic rapper Nas, R&B and pop sensation Chris Brown, and Haitian-American legend Wyclef Jean. These artists reflect the wide range of musical influences that shape Reminisce’s eclectic taste, blending Afro-fusion, hip-hop, and R&B.

Reminisce’s shoutouts are a testament to his ongoing connection with the ever-evolving global music scene. Despite his veteran status, he continues to champion Nigeria’s new wave of talent. His recent project, Sui Generis, further solidifies his commitment to uplifting young artists, featuring six rising stars on the tracklist. This project highlights not just his respect for the new generation, but also his desire to see them shine, cementing his role as both a mentor and collaborator in the industry.
