Rod Wave, the chart-topping rapper and singer behind hits like “Street Runner” and “Tombstone,” was arrested Monday in Georgia on a slew of charges, including aggravated assault and brandishing a firearm.
The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, was taken into custody on May 20 and booked into Fulton County Jail, according to arrest records. He was released later the same day after posting bond.
Authorities say the charges stem from an April 21 incident, though details remain scarce. In total, 14 charges have been filed against the artist, including simple assault, reckless conduct, obstruction of law enforcement, tampering with evidence, property damage, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Among the most serious accusations: allegedly aiming a gun at another person.
Rod Wave’s representatives and Fulton County law enforcement have not yet issued public statements regarding the arrest or the circumstances surrounding the case.
The arrest comes during a high point in Wave’s career. In recent years, he’s carved out a distinct space in the rap and R&B scene with his emotional lyrics and melodic delivery. In 2024, his album “Last Lap” became his latest top 10 project, continuing a streak that puts him in rare company—the only artist besides Taylor Swift to chart a top-10 album every year from 2019 to 2024.
He also contributed the lead single “Sinners” to the soundtrack of the film of the same name earlier this year. However, Wave made headlines recently for canceling multiple dates on his Last Lap Tour, sparking concern among fans.
