Afrobeat Icon Seun Kuti and his lovely wife Yetunde gave fans some insight into their love story.
During a Valentine’s themed episode of TVC’s The View, Yetunde Kuti shared her love story with Seun Kuti. Yetunde, a former dancer, reminisced about her days as Seun’s backup dancer, revealing that despite their five-year age difference, they seldom talked. It was through a cousin of Seun that they were formally introduced to each other.
“I’ve known Seun a long time but we never used to talk because he was older than me, obviously. I eventually met him again through his cousin and then I started working with them as a dancer because I loved to dance. His cousin was also a dancer,” she said.
Yetunde and Seun clarified that although both parties were in prior relationships, they had started developing feelings for each other. Yetunde commented, “But he had a girlfriend, what was I going to do with someone that had a girlfriend and his girlfriend was even giving me face and I had to back off.”
When asked about marriage deal breakers, the couple responded that cheating is not a deal breaker for either party. Yetunde said, “There is nothing my husband is going to do that would make me leave him. Even if he cheats on me I won’t leave him. I am not going to leave my husband because he cheated on me. Nah, that can’t happen”.
One of the hosts asked Seun Kuti if he would leave his wife if she cheats on him, to which he responded, “No. What has that got to do with anything?”. The couple got married in 2020 and have a child together.
