Meanwhile, Seun Kuti also sparked a conversation by questioning the high salaries of footballers, highlighting the disparity between their earnings and those of essential workers.
He pointed out that during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, society functioned without footballers, while essential workers played a crucial role in keeping everyone safe. Seun believes it’s unjust for footballers to have such high salaries, especially when many young boys in his community play football without any pay.
“Footballers are making millions weekly just to chase a ball around a field. Why should footballers be paid better than nurses and doctors? It’s not fair,” Seun remarked.
The singer’s statement follows remarks by Rodri, a midfielder for Manchester City, who warned about a possible strike among footballers. Rodri stated that players across Europe believe a strike is the right course of action if the crowded schedule doesn’t change. This has further fueled the debate on the salaries of footballers and their impact on the sport and society.

“I support the players. Ordinary gym you can’t even go to, and you’re talking sht. Just play 10 minutes of football, then you’ll understand strength isn’t just about talking. These guys train weekly and still play twice most weeks, and then get injured, and their career is gone. If you’re not in their shoes, don’t say anything pls.”

“This is what you get when topics to talk about are finished.. Baba rest… don’t even go there..”

“Football that cures BP. Keep playing.”
