Nigerian music star Simi has issued a candid message to her followers about the dangers of seeking validation from others.

Taking to social media platform X, the singer advised people to avoid building their lives around public acceptance, warning that it can be fleeting and unreliable.

“Don’t live for the love of people. It’s fickle as f*ck,” Simi wrote in her post. She encouraged fans to instead prioritize truth, kindness, honesty, and their relationship with God. Simi further noted that while it’s fine to acknowledge public admiration when it comes, people should avoid holding on to it for too long because, in her words, “people forget.”

Her post has since sparked conversations online, with many agreeing with her perspective and sharing their own experiences of navigating praise, criticism, and the unpredictability of public opinion in the age of social media.
