Singer Simi recently shared a heartwarming story about how her husband, Adekunle Gold, proposed to her for the first time on camera.
The Nigerian star, known for hits like “Duduke,” revealed this during an appearance on the “OFFTHETOP” show with VJ Adams. According to singer Simi, the proposal took her by surprise, happening just 10 days before her 30th birthday. Despite her typically being hard to surprise, Adekunle managed to plan an unforgettable moment. She explained that on the day of the proposal, she and Adekunle had attended a friend’s mother’s birthday celebration, meaning she was already dressed up and wearing heels.
After the event, she was exhausted, but Adekunle insisted they go to dinner with his uncles at the Eko Hotel, which she saw as an opportunity to connect with his family. Unbeknownst to singer Simi, Adekunle had much bigger plans. She mentioned that she’s usually not one to care much about makeup or formalities, but on this occasion, everything fell into place as Adekunle had orchestrated the day perfectly.
When they arrived at the hotel, Adekunle asked her to fix her heels before heading towards their destination. Simi thought she was about to meet his uncles but was caught off guard when she saw candles and flowers leading to their room. As she opened the door, balloons, candles, and flowers decorated the space. It was then that Adekunle Gold knelt down and asked her to marry him. Shocked but elated, Simi said “Yes” to the love of her life.
