International superstar Tems has earned the prestigious award for Breakthrough Award at the esteemed 2024 Billboard Women in Music.

Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems has been featured on the cover of Billboard Magazine Issue for the Billboard Women in Music Edition. The international superstar showcased her elegance in a range of outfits and struck amazing poses for the cover. The Billboard Women in Music event is set to take place on March 6, 2024, in Los Angeles.

Tems spoke to Billboard about how she got to where she is now. She said, “When I make music, I don’t really think about where it’s going to end up. I just leave it all in the studio”. The afrobeat queen as she has been dubbed on social media has surpassed her peers. She has gained numerous accolades including a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap for her feature on Future Wait for You.

Temilade Openiyi has also co-written for Rihanna for the Grammy Award-winning soundtrack Lift Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Fun fact is Tems has not released her debut album although she said that it “is 1,000% coming out this year”.

Billboard described her as a catalyst for the new generation. The issue said, “While Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade led the charge for African female artists in the 2010s, in this decade, Tems has paved the way for a new generation that also includes Ayra Starr and Tyla”.
