Davido and Chioma’s white wedding in Miami was no less than a royal affair. With a whopping $3.7 million price tag, the event attracted an elite guest list of A-list celebrities and industry bigwigs, from Adekunle Gold, Teni, and Zlatan, to business and political tycoons such as Dangote, Saraki, Obi Cubana, and Ubi Franklin.

The party was drenched in glamour, mind-blowing fashion, and a decadent food spread that had everyone abuzz long after the music died down. Yet, amidst all the grandeur, one tale took a tasty turn, and it included none other than singer-songwriter Teni, amala, and a billion-dollar distraction.

The party featured a delicious array of traditional and foreign dishes, but as expected at most Yoruba weddings, Amala took centre stage.

I assume that guests thronged the “almighty amala” zone, sidestepping a lavish array of dishes such as Okpa, Oha soup, Ofe Nsala, and Nkwobi. Amala, paired with ewedu and gbegiri, was the star meal of the evening, a proud owambe staple and a crowd-puller like none other.

After the party, Teni revealed on social media that she missed out on the highlight of the party, amala, due to some big distractions.

“Dangote, you must pay me $1 million for disrupting me from enjoying Amala at Davido’s wedding,” she stated in a trending video.

She recalled that after splurging $100,000 on the dance floor in celebration, she had hastened to the eating area, craving amala, when she spotted Africa’s wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote.

“I was alone, on my way to pick up Amala, when I spotted Dangote. I promptly abandoned the Amala and went to tell Daddy Dangote my life story.”

However, the billionaire distractions did not end there.

“After I was done speaking with Daddy Dangote, I spotted my other Daddy, Saraki, and immediately went to greet him. Then I simply socialized with my new daddies throughout the wedding party and forgot to eat Amala.”

By the time the meet-and-greets concluded, the amala had vanished.

Teni, who always knows how to be humorous, wrapped it up just right: “Daddy Dangote and Daddy Saraki will have to fund my Amala.”

Regardless of whether she gets her “$1 million Amala compensation,” one thing was certain: Teni made a missed meal a moment for the internet and another unforgettable moment for Davido and Chioma’s fairytale wedding in Miami.
