Organizers of the Headies announced a surprise twist for 2025 that there would not be a single, but rather two editions of the highly coveted award ceremony.
The founder of Headies, Ayo Animashuan, broke the exciting news on Tuesday evening at a Victoria Island event in Lagos. He revealed that the 17th edition of the iconic awards event will take place on April 5, 2025, to honor the musical achievement of 2024.
The nominations for the much-awaited event will be released on February 12, 2025, and will provide the first glimpse to the fans and the fraternity of the artistes competing for the prestigious awards.
The thrill does not stop there. The 18th edition of The Headies will come later in the year with the ceremony holding in December 2025, the date to be revealed.
This is one year after The Headies made a comeback to Nigeria in 2024, after two consecutive years of hosting the event in the United States. The 16th Headies, which took place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia, paved the way for this comeback to the Nigerian origin of the award ceremony.
Since its inception in 2006, The Headies has been a constant on the Nigerian music scene, honoring outstanding works and talent.
