Tom Selleck frustrated as CBS cancels “Blue Bloods” after 14 seasons

Famous American actor Thomas William Selleck, popularly known simply as Tom Selleck, has expressed frustration over CBS’ cancellation of Blue Bloods, a renowned TV series that has premiered for the last 14 years.

Selleck made this known during a recent interview with journalists, where he acknowledged his frustration, stating that he never envisaged the successful show coming to an end.

The 79-year-old actor, who has played Commissioner Frank Reagan in the crime drama since its debut in 2010, said that although he wanted to discuss the show’s ending during the last eight seasons, he had to withdraw because it was still wildly successful.

He said the show, which ranks number 9 out of the Top 100 Shows of 2023-2024 based on viewership, still draws eyeballs to the silver screen. He argued that if anyone could say to the television network, “Here’s a show you can program in the worst time slot you got, and it is going to guarantee you winning Friday night for the next 15 years,’ it would be almost impossible to believe,” that their recommendation would not be Blue Bloods.

He also noted that he would miss all the actors and actresses who starred in the series and the characters they played. He stated that the manner in which the show is ending is unusual and that he believes some sort of jealousy led to the abrupt dismissal of the 14-year-old series.

Donnie Wahlberg, who played Det. Danny, Len Cariou, who played PC Henry, Will Estes, who starred as Sgt. Jamie Reagan, Vanessa Ray, who played Officer Eddie Janko, and Bridget Moynahan, who starred as ADA Erin Reagan, also starred in the series alongside Selleck.

Meanwhile, there are speculations Selleck might get his wish for a spinoff for Blue Bloods as CBS Studios president David Stapf reportedly made a tease in that way. If that happens, it will not be as blue as it already seems for Blue Bloods.
