Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has raised the alarm over a new scam method used by fraudsters to extort unsuspecting victims. Taking to her Instagram page, the actress detailed the unsettling tactic and urged the public to remain vigilant.
According to Tonto Dikeh, the perpetrators approach their targets in public spaces, crying and accusing them of making fake bank transfers for items they allegedly purchased. The dramatic display draws a crowd, creating a tense environment where the victim is pressured to either pay up or face the threat of mob justice.
In her post, she warned:“Beware: Someone could approach you in public, crying and wailing, accusing you of making a fake transfer for something you allegedly bought. A crowd gathers, tensions rise, and you’re forced to either pay up or risk facing jungle justice.
“Now imagine the embarrassment, wasted time, potential property loss, or even harm to yourself before any help arrives. Stay vigilant and stay safe because outside is wild these days.”
The actress is not alone in her efforts to warn the public about fraudulent activities. Yoruba actress Ronke Oshodi Oke previously shared a video recounting a near-robbery incident on the highway, advising Nigerians to beware of strange behavior during travel.
