Naledi Aphiwe is a 19 year old rising South African Afro-pop singer and songwriter who gained prominence in 2023 when her voice was sampled on Chris Brown’s “Shooter” from his 11:11 album. The song has amassed over 30 million streams on spotify.

She released her single, “Ngiyabonga,” in 2024, and it has already surpassed 8 million streams on Spotify. She received further recognition in 2024 by winning the Soft ‘n Free Pop Artist of the Year award at the Basadi in Music Awards. In early 2025, Naledi signed a recording deal with Virgin Music Group, marking a significant step in her fast rising career. She released her debut single ‘Tanzania’ in 2022 which received international acclaim as well as ammasing 17 million streams on Spotify, and by 2023, she performed at Coachella.

Tyla has taken the global stage by storm with her unique blend of Amapiano, R&B, and pop influences. At the age of 23, Tyla is already an international sensation. Her hit song “Water” has amassed over one billion streams on Spotify and smashed 10 billion views on TikTok, earning her a Grammy as well.

She continues to dominate international charts with the release of her self-titled debut album, “Tyla”. The album, which is a fusion of Afrobeats, pop, Amapiano, and R&B, has gathered over 1.5 billion streams while topping charts in several countries. Her new song “Push 2 Start” has surpassed 186 million streams on Spotify and reached number one on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.

Beyond music, Tyla has made significant moves in the fashion world, collaborating with luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton. With her distinct sound and stylish visuals, Tyla is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s biggest musical exports right now.

  1. Musa Keys

Musa Keys is one of the artists to watch in 2025 because of his growing influence in the Amapiano scene. Noted for his unique sound, sweet melodies and charismatic stage presence, his international recognition is expanding. His collaboration with Davido on the smash hit “Unavailable” showcased his versatility and ability to blend Amapiano with Afrobeats, expanding his reach beyond South Africa.

Musa Keys boasts an impressive 410,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, showcasing his growing influence in the music scene. With a good track record of hits and international appeal, Musa Keys is set for even bigger success in 2025, which is why one of the Rising South African Artists.

  1. Usimamane

Born Omuhleumnguni Simamane, this rapper from Durban rose to fame with his 2024 hit single ‘Cheque’, which was certified triple platinum in South Africa while also gaining 6 million Spotify streams. His debut album, 20th: Days Before Maud, set a new record for the highest second-day streams on Spotify in South Africa, exceeding 332,000 streams, while his hit track ‘Uvalo’ from the album reached number one on the local charts and currently has over 8 million streams on Spotify.
