South African music sensation Tyla is making global waves once again, this time by becoming the first African artist to host the prestigious Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

The history-making announcement has sent social media into a frenzy, with fans and fellow celebrities showering her with congratulatory messages and hailing her as an inspiration for young Africans everywhere.

As excitement around her Nickelodeon milestone continued to grow, Tyla added another impressive achievement to her resume. The Water hitmaker was unveiled as one of the featured artists on the upcoming Smurfs movie soundtrack, joining international superstars like Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Cardi B, Desi Trill, Natania, and Subhi.

Since signing with US-based Epic Records in 2021, Tyla has steadily cemented her place on the global music scene. She gained widespread acclaim after joining Chris Brown’s European tour in 2023 and later earned praise from international heavyweights like Travis Scott and Marshmello, who remixed her breakout hit Water.

Tyla also teased fans with promises of her upcoming album, hinting at more versatility and fresh sounds that will continue to represent and elevate African music on the world stage.

Hosted by Tyla, the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is set to air live on June 21,2025, at 8 p.m. EDT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. Fans can now vote for their favorite stars in 35 categories via KidsChoiceAwards.com. This year’s top nominees include Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar.

Although, the full lineup of performers and celebrity guests for the night is yet to be announced.
