The future of Liverpool’s captain, Virgil Van Dijk has been in doubt as the Dutchman is currently in the final year of his current contract which expires at the end of this current season.
Van Dijk gave an update on his future during an interview after the victory over Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday, October 20, 2024. According to him, the right people are already discussing his future at Liverpool.
He said,
“Talks are ongoing with the right people to discuss my new contract at Liverpool. When it’s time to make a decision, you guys (the media) will know it as well. But now my full commitment & focus is on Liverpool, to be successful this season”.
Van Dijk is not the only player whose future is uncertain at Liverpool, the club’s top goalscorer and right-back, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold will also be out of contract this season. The supporters of the Reds will hope that an agreement can be reached between both sides.
