The days of Gianluigi Donnarumma at Paris Saint-Germain seem to be numbered after he was left out of the team list to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup final.
There have been earlier reports that the Italian would leave Paris Saint-Germain during the FIFA Club World Cup, which they lost humiliatingly to Chelsea Football Club. Gianluigi Donnarumma has since been linked with a move to Chelsea and Manchester United with both teams looking to bring a world-class goalkeeper to their clubs.
However, there are reports from Stamford Bridge that Chelsea are happy with the current set of goalkeepers at the club and are not looking to bring in a replacement for Robert Sanchez anytime soon.
On the other hand, Onana has been criticised by most Manchester United supporters since he joined from Inter Milan for his indecisiveness whenever the opposition teams attack. The only stumbling block for United will be Donnarumma’s wages which might be too much for the Red Devils to pay following their current wage structure.
Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, also confirmed that Manchester City are not interested in signing the 26-year-old despite the recent acquisition of James Trafford. The deal is still dependent on whether they can sell Ederson before the transfer window closes.
Why does PSG want to sell Gianluigi Donnarumma?
PSG recently signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a five-year deal who is expected to take the number one position at the club. According to reports from the capital, the Ligue 1 Champions want a ball-playing goalkeeper, one who is very good with his feet and is also effective whenever they attack.
Donnarumma has two years left on his contract. If PSG fail to sell him, then there is a possibility that he might be sold at a cheaper price during the 2026 summer transfer window because he will have just one year left on his contract.
What does the future hold for Donnarumma at PSG?
The agents of the Italian are looking for a new club for the player but it is yet to be decided if he will leave PSG or next summer.
