Davido gave us an assignment and we delivered, we have unearthed the hidden meaning behind his new album, ‘5ive.’

Davido in his recent Twitch session when asked about the meaning behind his album name ‘5ive’ teased an insight on it being his fifth studio album. Taking a deeper dive into the album’s meaning hints at numerous things one of which symbolises a new trajectory in his career. Something we would categorise as a step away from the norm. With the initial singles released, we have seen the mix of catchy afrobeats vibes as well as the amapiano sound too which hints that this could possibly be one for the books.

5ive, represents a new chapter in his career, marking his fifth studio project. Over the years, the Afrobeats superstar has consistently delivered albums that define different phases of his journey. In a recent stream with Santi, the singer was asked about the significance of 5ive and he said, “The fifth album”.

With 5ive, Davido continues his legacy of evolving sounds and storytelling, building on the success of his previous albums. Fans have already begun speculating about the project’s direction, potential collaborations, and whether it will bring a new dimension to his artistry. Given his history of blending Afrobeats with global influences, expectations are high for what he has in store.

His debut album, Omo Baba Olowo (2012), introduced him as a fresh force in the Nigerian music industry, showcasing his energy and luxurious lifestyle. After a series of hit singles, he followed up with A Good Time (2019), an album that reflected his global rise and featured international collaborations.

In 2020, he dropped A Better Time, signalling his ambition to push Afrobeats further onto the world stage. With collaborations from stars like Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown, the album was packed with high-energy records. Then came Timeless (2023), which solidified Davido’s reputation as a veteran in the game, blending deep storytelling with infectious sounds.
