The manager of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that Andry Lunin will be the goalkeeper when Real Madrid faces Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League.
Ancelotti said in a pre-match press conference that Lunin will be in goal for Madrid. He had earlier stated that Lunin would start against Bayern before the Cadiz win over the weekend. However, Courtois’s impressive performance against Cadiz had made some people question if Lunin would start in the Champions League.
In response, Ancelotti clarified that Lunin would play. He said,
“Lunin will play if I don’t change my mind tonight. Yes, Lunin will play. The plan for a player who returns after such a big injury does not change due to one situation. Thibaut has played because he was very good and now he will have to take his time to reach his best version. The plan did not change because of the Cadiz game. He played an optimal game, but he has to reach his best level.”
Additionally, Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni was absent from the Cadiz game due to a foot injury. However, he has recovered and trained normally on Tuesday, May 7th, 2024, making him available for selection.
