Man United’s Diogo Dalot could be out till the end of the season due to a new injury the Portuguese picked up recently.
Diogo Dalot has sustained a calf injury that could potentially rule him out for the remainder of the season, as confirmed by Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim. Dalot has been a key player for United this season, featuring in nearly all their Premier League matches and playing a total of 51 games across all competitions.
In last Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Wolves, Dalot was benched, with Patrick Dorgu stepping in as his replacement. The heavy workload Dalot has endured throughout the season seems to have taken its toll. Speaking ahead of United’s upcoming match against Bournemouth, Amorim stated: “Diogo Dalot is out. We don’t know how long he is going to be out but he is out for these next games. There is a possibility [he will miss the rest of the season] but we will see week by week.”
Amorim explained that Dalot’s injury stems from a muscle issue in his calf, adding: “He had a sequence of games he played all the time. We tried to manage [it] but we had to protect the players and Dalot felt something.”
Dalot’s absence adds to United’s defensive woes, with Lisandro Martinez already sidelined for the season and Ayden Heaven not yet ready to return. However, Amorim hinted that Matthijs de Ligt might be nearing a comeback.
