On the second evening of the 2025 NAACP Image Awards ceremony, Wizkid and Davido both emerged as very prominent winners, basking in their impressive achievement.
The much-awaited recipients of the 56th installment of the highly reputed award ceremony was officially revealed over the course of both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
The NAACP Image Awards is an annual high-caliber event whose sole purpose is to acknowledge and reward exemplary performances in various artistic disciplines, including film, television, theatre, music, and literature.
Wizkid achieved the high honor of winning the award for ‘Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Contemporary)’ due to his fruitful collaboration with the talented artist Brent Faiyaz to create ‘Piece of my Heart’ off Morayo album.
Davido managed to clinch the highly sought-after award for ‘Outstanding International Song’ for his hit collaboration ‘Hmmm’ with Chris Brown, overcoming fellow artist Wizkid who also received a nomination in the same category.
But what is worth noticing is that Nigerian artists Tems and Burna Boy unfortunately didn’t win in their respective categories in the latest awards.
This is the third time Wizkid is winning the highly coveted NAACP Image Award, which now makes him the most awarded Nigerian artist in the history of this prestigious honor.
In 2023, Wizkid achieved an important feat when he won the highly coveted NAACP Image Awards in the category of ‘Outstanding Collaboration (contemporary)’. The award was for his remarkable feature on the popular song titled ‘Call Me Everyday’ by Chris Brown.
