Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, recently made headlines after paying a surprise visit to the mother of his former signee, Damilola Abdulrasaq Afolabi, aka LAX.
In a viral video of the visit circulating on social media, the mother of LAX was seen being ushered down a staircase by members of her household, unaware of the special guest, Wizkid awaiting her. The moment she spotted Wizkid, she was overcome with excitement.
Demonstrating deep respect in line with Yoruba tradition, the Essence crooner immediately prostrated on the floor upon seeing LAX’s mother. The emotional reunion saw the elderly woman embrace Wizkid tightly, referring to him as her child while expressing immense joy.
Another segment of the video captured LAX’s mother seated beside Wizkid on a sofa, showering him with heartfelt prayers. The singer, in turn, responded with a resounding “amen” to her blessings.
Wizkid’s unexpected visit has since sparked reactions from fans, with many praising his humility and deep sense of respect for elders.
