It was on 5th March 2024 that Wizkid dropped the official music video of his highly anticipated chartbuster single “Kese,” which is included in his album Morayo. The video, which marks the superstar’s directorial debut, is nothing short of spectacular, and it showcases his genius not only as a vocalist but also as a visionary.

The video is an exciting celebration of African beauty, with lots of beautiful African women taking the foreground, a signature of Wizkid’s work. The visuals are clean, crisp, and impossibly glossy, further adding to the rich cultural essence that is inherent in Wizkid’s music. As it should be, the video is a feast for the eyes, doing justice to both the rhythm of the song and the culture it represents.

Wizkid’s energy is brought to life as he effortlessly executes his “big steeper” steps, along with some trending TikTok-inspired dance steps. It’s clear that the artiste is in his element, blending sleek choreography with effortless cool that has long made him the Starboy. His swag is fresh, simple, and undeniably refined, and it exudes the charm that has taken him to global stardom.

Wizkid’s debut as a director is merely another achievement in his already illustrious career, as he joins other Afrobeats musicians who have ventured into direction on the other side of the camera. With this move, Wizkid is not only dictating the course of Afrobeats’ sound but also now the visual appeal of the genre. He is joined by other artists such as Burna Boy on ‘Last Last’ and Tems on ‘Me & U’, both of whom have also co-directed their respective videos.

The “Kese” music video is already shaping up to be a strong contender for music video of the year. A true cinematic masterpiece, it boasts the top-tier production quality we’ve come to expect from Wizkid, and it’s clear he’s raised the bar even higher.

Wizkid’s second video release off his 16-track Morayo album is the “Kese” video. He had earlier dropped the video for “Piece of My Heart,” a song that features Brent Faiyaz.

“Kese” is one of the highlights of Morayo, an album that dropped in November 2024. Morayo album includes a diverse array of sounds and collaborations featuring artists like Asake, Jazmine Sullivan, Brent Faiyaz, Anais Cardot, and Tiakola. Some of the other hit songs on the album are “Piece of My Heart,” “Slow,” “Bad Girl,” “A Million Blessings,” and “Pray.”
