Global music sensation Wizkid is heading to the big screen. Long Live Lagos, a highly anticipated documentary chronicling the Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste’s life and career, is set to premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

The announcement was made on Wednesday via the festival’s official Instagram page, revealing that the film will be one of the featured documentaries at this year’s edition, which runs from June 4 to June 15.

Long Live Lagos traces Wizkid’s inspiring journey from the streets of Lagos to international stardom. It promises an intimate look into his rise as one of Africa’s most influential music figures, offering behind-the-scenes glimpses into his creative process, groundbreaking career moments, and the cultural impact he continues to make on the global stage.

The Tribeca Film Festival, known for its diverse programming, includes film screenings, live conversations, music, games, art, and immersive experiences. In 2023, celebrated Nigerian actress and filmmaker Stephanie Linus served on the festival’s jury—marking a growing presence of African talent on the global film circuit.

Born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, Wizkid, 34, gained prominence with his 2011 debut album Superstar, and has since released multiple acclaimed projects including Ayo (2014), Sounds From the Other Side (2017), Made in Lagos(2020) and More Love, Less Ego (2022). His most recent album, Morayo, dropped on November 22, 2024, as a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun.
