Wizkid had previously alleged that he turned down Puma’s ambassador offer because he wanted more from the deal.

Puma's ambassador

Popular musician Wizkid is notably absent in photos recently uncovered by netizens showcasing Puma’s ambassadors, both past and present. This comes after the Afrobeats star claimed that the sportswear brand had initially approached him before Davido. Reports online suggest that Puma initially signed Wizkid for $1M in 2020 but later signed Davido for $10M in December 2021.

However, netizens have now unearthed an old article from **Puma’s ambassador** section on the brand’s website, highlighting figures who have helped shape their business. While many faces, including Davido’s, were seen, Wizkid’s absence raised eyebrows.

One netizen, @MissRozapepper, commented:

“Puma has unveiled their ambassadors both past and present who have worked with them, and Davido is the latest addition. Davido signed with **Puma’s ambassador** program in a record-breaking endorsement deal in 2021. Till date, no deal by any African artist has surpassed what he signed in 2021 until the renewal of over $10M.”

Currently, Davido holds the top three records for the highest endorsements by any African artist:

1. Puma’s ambassador (2021): $10M (2 years, renewed in 2024)
2. Martell: $7M (2 years, renewed in 2023)
3. Puma’s ambassador (2021): $5.5M (2 years, signed in 2021)
4. Martell: $5M (2 years, signed in 2021)

Mixed reactions have trailed this …

@RealMibanti asked:

“Which Puma Wizshit worked for??”

@yu_wizzy said:

“Wiz never signed for puma, he was used as a mannequin to promote a puma suede outfit under JD, that should be common knowledge sha”

@ree_rehanat opined:

“There is a mix up somewhere I can’t find WizKid at least he should be part of the old ambassador nahhhhh.”

In other news, Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has continued to express his disdain for fellow artist Davido, taking every opportunity to criticize and belittle him. The ongoing feud between the two prominent musicians has escalated further, drawing attention across social media platforms.

Wizkid and Davido

Recently, an incident reignited their rivalry when a video clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing a brief and seemingly cordial interaction between Wizkid and Davido at a public event. In the video, the two were seen exchanging greetings, sparking curiosity among fans who thought the two might have settled their differences. However, a netizen accompanying the post implied that Wizkid must be secretly wishing for more moments like that encounter, suggesting a longing for reconciliation.

In response, Wizkid wasted no time confirming the user’s speculation but took it a step further by delving into details of what transpired that day. According to him, the scenario was not as it appeared on the surface. Wizkid alleged that Davido and his entourage had crashed his DJ’s party in Lagos, showing up uninvited. He claimed that the appearance was not a friendly gesture but an intrusion on what was meant to be a private event.

Wizkid further asserted that Davido’s behavior was nothing new, alleging that the singer frequently sought him out wherever he went, describing him dismissively as his “fanboy.” He insisted that Davido’s efforts to connect with him were not genuine and were only attempts to gain attention or relevance in settings where Wizkid was already making headlines.

The harsh words from Wizkid have only added fuel to the already intense rivalry between the two musicians. Fans of both artists have been divided, with some siding with Wizkid for his candor, while others criticize him for taking unnecessary jabs at Davido. The situation has led to a social media storm, with hashtags related to both artists trending as supporters and critics weigh in on the unfolding drama.

Despite the tensions, it remains unclear if the rivalry will deescalate anytime soon or if this is merely another chapter in their long-standing competition. For now, the public can only watch and wait to see what happens next in this ongoing clash between two of Nigeria’s biggest musical icons.

In his words:

“Want what? He looks for me everywhere I go like a fan boy he is! This was an event for one of my DJ’s Skyla in Lagos! We no invite dem!”
