Amalgamating some of Africa’s biggest genres into a single song is impressive, and this is exactly what “Come 2 Me” does. With a foundation in Afrofeats, the single brilliantly incorporates R&B with a melodic hook over danceable house beats.
With a slick and clean verse showcasing WNDRSZN’s rap ability, a mix of Tswana, English and Zulu lyricism adds to the rapper’s eclectic and versatile sound.
With intentions of romance and spoils sprawled throughout the track, its love theme is compelling. But, despite this, homage paid to late hip-hop legend HHP is the true highlight here, with tinges of old-school Motswako that are brilliantly commemorative of a defining South African genre. “Rest in peace to Jabulani Tsambo waitse,” WNDRSZN laments, and we feel it.
