Yinka Adebayo, Executive Director of MediaReach OMD Nigeria, made a powerful appeal to the committee in charge of coordinating the Headies voting process. Adebayo called for transparency and honesty to be at the forefront of the voting system, urging those responsible to ensure that every vote counts.
“I want to make an appeal to the committee that’s in charge of coordinating the votes,” Adebayo began. “Please, when you cast the votes, let’s make sure the votes truly count.” He emphasized the need for integrity and clear communication throughout the process, stating, “Transparency and honesty should be your watchwords.”
Adebayo also addressed the public’s skepticism, acknowledging the high levels of mistrust in society. “Nigerians are asking questions about everything, and I don’t blame them,” he said. “The level of dishonesty in our society is so high that we need to go the extra mile to show proof that we’ve not only delivered, but over-delivered.”
He further illustrated his point by referencing the popular Big Brother show, where viewers can see exactly how votes are cast. “When you watch Big Brother, they show you how you voted, which is your scorecard,” Adebayo pointed out, suggesting that The Headies could adopt a similar level of transparency to gain the public’s trust.
