Yinka Adebayo, Executive Director of MediaReach OMD Nigeria, delivered an impactful message to artists in the Afrobeats industry, urging them to stay grounded and remember their roots amidst their growing success.
“Guys, life is a stage,” Adebayo began, emphasizing the importance of maintaining focus and awareness of one’s journey. “When someone is running, some people are sitting— but you can’t run forever.”
Acknowledging the immense global rise of Afrobeats, he reminded the artists that while they are at the top now, the industry’s success is fleeting. “Afrobeats is the one reigning now,” he said, before offering a cautionary note. “Bear in mind, any river that forgets its origin stands a risk of drying up—and drying up fast.”
