Our favourite instrumental psych-rock outfit Yndian Mynah have just dropped a new single and it’s a work of nostalgic shoegaze beauty.
Perhaps a little faster than we’re used to from them, and less brooding too, “Wilson” is filled with lightness.
Their signature blend of rich instrumentation remains at the forefront, while a driving bass line and dynamic rhythmic undertones breathe fresh air into their tried and tested sound.
“We wanted to create a piece of music that resonates with everyone on a deeply personal level,” says Yndian Mynah. “It’s about those critical moments when we lean on the people around us, and how their support becomes an anchor.”
For fans of DIIV, Real Estate and Smashing Pumpkins, “Wilson” is a softly melancholic return by one of South Africa’s most progressive instrumental outfits, and we welcome them with arms wide open.
